The year is 1908, and war is looming. Austria has annexed Bosnia ... and the second martian invasion has begun! Can humanity survive the martian menace? Only you can decide the course of the great interpanetary war.

All Quiet on the Martian Front is Robot Peanut Studio's and Alien Dungeon's game of interpanetary conflict. It was created by three legendary game designers; Alessio Cavatore, Rick Priestley, and Ernie Baker. Alessio Cavatore was a game designer at Games Workshop for 15 years and worked on all of their major products including Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game, and Warhammer Fantasy Battle. After leaving Games Workshop he designed Kings of War for Mantic Games. He has now founded River Horse Games. Rick Priestley was one of the lead game designers at Games Workshop since the early 80s. He was one of the authors of the first edition of Warhammer Fantasy Battle, and of Warhammer 40,000. He now co-owns Warlord Games, and is an associate at River Horse Games. Ernie Baker was a product designer at Kenner Toys in the 80s. He went on to become Vice President of product concepts and design at Tyco. He then became Vice Presidnet of the product design group at Mattel. He now owns Robot Peanut Studios.

Given the pedigree of its designers it is not surprising that the game is amazing. It is tactial, easy to learn, and fast playing. The starter set is very well balanced. This is surprising as the Humans have six tanks, loads of infantry, machine guns, and bikes, and the martians only have three walkers. Even if you have your favorite side, it is always fun to switch it off and play as the other faction as the tactics are quite different.

The miniatures themselves are also remarkable. The martian walkers are huge. They are even taller than 5" action figures. Their size is all the more notable when you consider that the infantry in the game are only a half an inch tall. All of the larger vehicles and tanks are made of polystyrene. They are inexpensive, durable, and can be assembled with plastic glue. The infantry are the real gem of this line. They are well sculpted, and are very well cast. The mold lines and flash are minimal.

All Quiet is labeled as being in 15mm scale. In reality it is slightly larger, and this was intential. It was designed to scale with HO model railroad terrain, so it is easy to acquire appropriately sized buildings and trees to serve as a battleground.
