Virtual Toy Chest's D.C. Heroes Role Playing Game Archive
During the 80s D.C. Comics had a string of memorable licenses including the Super Powers toy series by Kenner. Another such license was the D.C. Heroes role playing game by Mayfair Games. It was first published in 1985. The game system was very well designed and was a suitable match for the D.C. Comics on many levels. For example, the system allows weak characters to challenge much more powerful ones, even if only for short periods of time. D.C. Heroes was very popular and went through two more editions that were published in 1989 and 1993. During the 90s the rules to the game were sold to Pulsar games which produced the Blood of Heroes R.P.G. In 1999, West End Games was granted the license to produce a new R.P.G. based on D.C. Comics. It is called D.C. Universe.
