Our story begins in the laboratory of Dr. Reed Richards. He had been working for several years on rocket technology and had just developed the first spaceship capable of interstellar travel. His wife Susan Richards, and her brother Johnny Storm enlist the aid of Ben Grim to pilot the ship. Shortly after entering orbit the ship is irradiated with cosmic rays. They loose control of the ship and it crashes back to earth. Climbing from the wreckage they find that the radiation empowered them with special abilities. Reed can stretch like a rubber band. Susan can become invisible. Johnny can be a human torch. Ben gains super strength and skin like rock. They are the fantastic four. |
