In the mid 1950's a Canadian company called Peter Austin Manufacturing Co. produced a new type of building toy made from plastic girders and panels. They produced a bridge as well as building sets of various sizes. In 1957 Kenner began to produce similar sets under the names Girder and Panel and Bridge and Turnpike. Kenner eventually introduced a motorized bridge. They then made a hydrodynamic set that would pump water. This was followed by the Build A Home and Skyrail sets. They were produced until the late 1970s. |
