In the future earth's population reaches unsustainable levels. This leads to an ambitious space colonization program. 27 years later Von Braun City, the first permanent lunar settlement, is established. To aid in the construction of more space colonies, asteroid Juno is placed into earth's orbit. This leads to the rapid construction of many colonies. Earth's population is greatly reduced through the expansion into space and space colonization is halted. The expansion into space complicates the formerly stable political system. Space colony Side 3 declares its independence from earth and adopts the name The Republic of Zeon. The republic is overthrown and Zeon becomes a principality. The new ruler, Degwin Sodo Zabi, begins to develop an army of mobile suit mechas. In response to this the Earth Federation creates its own mobile suit program called RX. Before long earth and Zeon are at war. Can earth survive the Zeon attack? |
