Marcus has a large number of wounds. This helps keep him around for a while. Unfortunately he is somewhat hampered by his average defense value. Overall he seems to dig in for the long fight.
His reasonable high movement coupled with his attack value make him a useful character. His attack is not overpowering, but it is effective. Given his movement and his staying power he can be quite powerful. His real power is in his abilities. His leadership skill allows him to speed the advance of your soldiers. This is important because the soldiers have a low movement rating. More importantly his other ability increases the attacks of your soldiers.
