Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game Khandish Mercenaries
To the east of Mordor lies the land of Khand.
In its plains are countless tribes of horsemen.
They are skilled raiders who will offer their services to the highest bidder.
About the Army
The Khandish Mercenary army list is found in the Shadow in the East supplement.
As you might expect from the title, it is a list that is designed to be allied.
They offer other armies inexpensive cavalry, and troops that are skilled in combat.
One of its great shortcomings is the lack of courage of the troops.
Another is that the mercenaries can be bought off and not show up for the battle.
Khandish Mercenary Chieftains are great fighters.
However, when your force breaks they have a tendency to run.
I usually give them a horse, so they can call heroic movements with the rest of the cavalry.
Khandish Mercenary Warriors carry two-handed weapons or bows.
As they have a tendency not to show for battle, most people do not risk giving them bows, so as to avoid reducing this crucial commodity.
Thus they are equiped with two-handed weapons.
They have a better than average fight value.
All of this being said, there are better troops to be had, including the almost equivalent Wild Men of Dunland.
Khandish Mercenary Horsemen are where this force really shines.
They are exceptionally inexpensive and have a good fight value.
They are equipped with bows, so they can be used to harass the enemy.
