Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game The Fiefdoms
The realm of Gondor is divided into many small fiefdoms.
The greatest of these is that of Dol Amroth, which sits on the bay of Belfalas.
In times of need they raise troops to defend their realm against the forces of evil.
About the Army
The rules for the Fiefdoms army are found in the Gondor in Flames supplement.
It contains a variety of semi-elite troops, but lacks inexpensive soldiers.
They are the only force of good that has pikes.
At present they are also the only good army that has armored horses.
Prince Imrahil of Dol Amroth is a mighty fighter, especially when mounted on a horse.
His abundance of might, will, and fate also help him defeat the enemy.
However, his real power is that he can help nearby men at arms win combat.
Forlong the Fat is a great hero to lead troops.
Although he is only an average fighter he has plenty of might to help get his troops in position.
He is also quite strong, which can be useful when facing trolls.
Angbor the Fearless looks so cool.
However, as he only carries a two handed weapon he should not be taken in competative play.
He is the ideal leader of Clansmen of Lamedon, as he allows them to reroll dice in combat if they are near him.
Captains of Dol Amroth are not really superior to the regular troops in this army.
Their only advantage is might, which is best gotten elsewhere.
If you are considering a Captain of Dol Amroth, take another look at Forlong the Fat.
Knights of Dol Amroth can be used on foot, or mounted.
On foot, they provide the high defence that is necessary in an elite army.
They also have above average fight and courage values.
Mounted knights have armored horses, which helps them survive bow fire.
With lances they can cut down lightly armored foes.
However, they are very expensive, and your force will be severely outnumbered if you take more than a handful.
Men-at-arms of Dol Amroth should be taken in every Fiefdoms list.
They provide the pike support that helps win battles.
They are vulnerable to close combat attacks and should not be on the front line.
The latter role should be left to the Knights.
Axeman of Lossarnach have the ultimate weapon, it can be used to support your troops, or cut the enemy in two.
They are best used to support your troops, as their armor is not the best.
However, if your numbers dwindle, you can try to crush your opponent with a mighty blow.
Clansmen of Lamedon should not be taken in competetive play because of their two handed weapons.
However, their high courage is useful for assaulting non threatening evil creatures like shades and barrow wights.
Rangers of Gondor provide bow support to the Fiefdoms list.
However, be cautious of taking too many, as they will get cut down because of their poor armor.
