Star Trek was immensely popular in the early 90s. Several series were spun off including Deep Space 9. NBC decided to have a go at a sci fi series and thus was born seaQuest DSV. Rather than being set in space, the show took place underwater on a super submarine called the seaQuest. Between 1993 and 1996 59 episodes were filmed. Playmates produced toys for the series in 1993.
