Stereoscopic pictures had been around for more than fifty years. However, they had never been incorporated into such an elegant device. The original View-Master was in-fact very much like the modern ones. It has two eye pieces and looks roughly like a pair of binoculars. It can even use the modern reels. The greatest advance of the View-Master was to be able to tell a story with pictures. Each disc can hold seven pairs of photographs and accompanying text. In its heyday almost every tourist attraction, and cartoon had its own View-Master reels. |
